99% Done...

All that is left on the decking is to put in about 4 dozen screws, trim a rim joist and edge boards, belt sand some edges, and lastly hang the swing!

Dug about 5 footers and attached an end rim joist to box in one side.

Joist extensions from 10" to 6"

Here are a few shots of where the 16' joists end and taper off to 6" (5 1/2") so that the 6" rim joist will look nice when I mount it all along the front perimeter.

Boxing in and tying together...

Here other support joists are filled in the middle and tied together by cross joist bracing. Basic framing of the perimeter of the deck is being achieved.

One challenge I'm foreseeing is the outside rim joist which will be made up of 2x8's and so I'll have to change from the 2x10 lengthwise. No biggy...

Footers and support joists...

Leveling ground and getting the outside joists set up. Notice the crepe myrtle that will be boxed in. New deck joists are tied to existing deck 2x10 support joists with galv. carriage bolts.
